Any news on the next book or which content it will have? I've been offline for a while. Douglas Nicol on 10:05 4th-Dec-07 GMT #fde-47117 Mike, I believe Oliver Frey is also still alive, he used to do covers for the ZX Spectrum magazine Crash, and also did artwork for a story inside called 'The Terminal Man'. Agreed on how the book was worth the wait, I have never read any of these stories, not even segments of them in any way, so this was quite a thing for me as the last couple of volumes has had stories I already read, though I'm glad to get remastered and unedited versions. Oliver Frey also has some interesting artwork. I've commented before that the examples shown don't show some artists up that well, but not all the Don Lawrence stills shown in the comparison of artist pages are exactly examples of his finest work. I really like the whole retro look of his stuff, especially when it comes to the technology like tanks, ships and so on, it's like a melding of futuristic ideas with a hint of steampunk and early 20th century. Mike W on 10:05 4th-Dec-07 GMT #fb3-47113 My copy of Volume 9 arrived today - well worth the wait. It has 3 superb stories - which I haven't seen for over 30 years although I can remember a truncated version of 'The Puppet Emperor' in Vulcan. The geography feature on Elekton is tremendous - I wonder what features Rob will incorporate in the final 3 volumes and whether a series of the other artists will ever appear? I believe Gerry Wood & Ken Roscoe are still alive so they may have a few tales to tell as might the former editors of Look & Learn who presumably commissioned the stories in the first place - men such as Leonard Matthews & Jack Parker. Incidentally a few years ago, Doctor Who Magazine began reprinting old strips of the title character from the mid 60's onwards & quite a few people from those days were contacted and contributed such as Ron Turner who I believe has since died. rob van bavel @ on 11:11 1st-Dec-07 GMT [www.triganempire.co.uk] #fcc-47105 in volume 9 (OUT NOW) we publish a map of elekton, which tells you the position of the continents. it will also tell you more about the trigan bridge i think! Mo on 12:37 28th-Nov-07 GMT #49f-47068 Douglas - for what it's worth, about 25(?)years ago, the New Zealand Trigan Fanclub ran a story about terraforming which linked Trigan City to the Great Ocean thanks to an ingenious device invented by Peric and his son - who appeared in the last few Look and Learn stories. Douglas Nicol on 12:37 28th-Nov-07 GMT #1a1-47016 Oh by all means Rob, as I've said in the past the only Trigan I read for many years was the Hamlyn book, a few years ago I got the Hawk. Trigan was next to impossible to get. I admit I'd like to see all the stories, but getting the chance to read all these wonderful stories I've never even seen, bar the odd stray couple of Look and Learn has really been something. There's one thing I never understood about some of the Trigan stories and that's the Bay bridge, the early stories give an idea that Trigan City is in the middle of the Vorg desert, and that there's a smallish river nearby. Certainly not right on the coast or on a major river. rob van bavel @ on 13:48 21st-Nov-07 GMT [www.triganempire.co.uk] #4e8-46969 Hi, we concentrate the first series on Don Lawrence and Mike Butterworth, but we will make enquiries amongst the subscribers to our series if they would be interested in a second series with Embleton, Frey a.s.o. Douglas Nicol on 12:55 13th-Nov-07 GMT #905-46930 I also had the message through. I don't believe I've read any of these stories. Prior to the new collection all I'd read was in the Hamlyn or Hawk book. I still would like to see some of the other artists, especially Ron Embleton and Oliver Frey. rob van bavel @ on 12:55 13th-Nov-07 GMT [www.donlawrence.nl] #4e8-46915 Hi guys. Yes it has been a very hectic period, but Trigan 9 will be out within 3 weeks. This was communicated through the newsletter of The Worlds of Don Lawrence in May. If you've got any questions please send them through my sites (donlawrence.co.uk - triganempire.co.uk)and you get a reply (most of the times within 48 hours). Mike W on 17:47 9th-Nov-07 GMT #229-46910 Good news! I've just had a message from Rob confirming that the Trigan Collection is definitely ON. Vol 9 is out in Week 48 - end of Nov & the other 3 volumes are all out in 2008. So I must respectfully inform Salvia that she is incorrect - thank goodness!!! Salvia Saucer on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #229-46908 The Trigan Portfolio of 12 matching books has been delayed for aprox. 2 years. Mike W on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #229-46892 Nothing to report yet - it's the first time in about the 4 years that I have subscribed to the Collection that I haven't received a reply within 24 hours. Hopefully someone elsehas more positive news. Mike W on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #229-46874 I've e-mailed Rob & hope to have a reply soon. It is most frustrating having such a lack of news about the Trigan books but it appears that Storm & Karl the Viking have taken precidence & priority in recent months. Douglas Nicol on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #673-46867 I've noticed as well that news has been next to non-existant on the Trigan front. I don't subscribe to Storm or any of the other publications, only Trigan. Something would at least be helpful James on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #49f-46802 I'm afraid you're probably correct, Mo. I've looked at the sites & the preview page which lists forthcoming books has only the front cover of the 8th. (Zabriz) book which appeared around March. I feel very disappointed and not a little angry having spent a lot of money including the money upfront for the final volume - only to discover that there is no information on the preview page, other than that concerning a book that was produced at the beginning of the year. Mo on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #49f-46801 I've looked at the 2 recommended sites but have been unable tolocate any recent information regarding the Trigan Collection - apart from some 5 month old data relating to the 9th. book. Are these sites deadlinks? I don't want to be pessimistic but there does not seem much likelihood of 4 Trigan books being published in a year when only one has appeared in iver half a year. Surely there would be far more up-to-date information in order to encourage new purchasers & to reassure those who have purchased the previous 8 at approximately a whopping 800 dollars!!! Mike O'Doherty @ on 17:48 9th-Nov-07 GMT #216-46791 To answer the queries from the last two posts, I suggest you visit www.triganempire.co.uk or www.donlawrence.co.uk. Here you'll find further information on both the Trigan Empire and Storm reprint series. The last three Trigan books will complete the reprints of the Don Lawrence illustrated Trigan Empire stories and will include the very first stories from Ranger (Volume 1), the very last of his stories from look and Learn (Volume 12) and another volume somewhere in between the two (can't remember which one off the top of my head). All the other volumes are available from these web-sites (the ninth due out later this month) as well as pages of original art (follow the 'shop' links). Original Don Lawrence pages also crop up on e-bay from time to time. James on 13:05 31st-Oct-07 GMT #229-46762 reat to see thatthis site is still going - has it been reactivated? I found it difficult to contribute compared to a couple of years ago. I looked on a site for frothcoming sci-fi & fandom books but there was no sign of forthcoming Trigan books. Is it absolutely definite that there willbe more books? Sim on 13:06 31st-Oct-07 GMT #229-46757 Good to read your posting, Scott. Can you give any more information about the new book or the final 3 as I would imagine they must be at the planning stage? Does anyone know about any Don Lawrence artwork being available for sale? A couple of years ago one page of Look and Learn was available for £550 so anyone with original artwork is sitting on a fortune! Scott Carrick @ on 08:37 29th-Oct-07 GMT #094-46734 Hi Douglas, As Mo has already said Book Nine (Book six in chronological order) should be out next month. It has be renamed 'The Puppet Emperor' and will contain three stories 'The Puppet Emperor', 'Trigo's Five Tasks' and 'Menace from the Deep / Beneath the Sea.'
